Ariana
Ariana joined Victor's Vision in 2016 when she was 13-years old. She lives with her mom, little brother, aunt and grandma. Her parents both finished secondary school; her mom stays at home and her dad does construction out on the farms. During her final year of high school, Ariana was elected as the first Mayoress of Victor's Vision in the program's inaugural student council. In this role Ariana led program initiatives, gave motivational speeches, and served as a role model for all students in the program.
"I really like coming here because I love how they teach us here. I learn a lot in Victor’s Vision. I’m going to go to University and this is important to me. I know that I’m a role model for my little brother so if I am able to reach this goal, then he’ll know that he can too. If I can become an architect, then he’ll know he can achieve his dreams too. I want to study architecture because I like to draw and I really like math. I also really want to study abroad. I’d like to go to Spain one day because I’ve always interested in that country. I want to go to school in Piura or in Lima. I know that I’m going to need a scholarship, though, because my parents do not have very much money."
"My favorite class is math because it’s like an escape for me. When I’m doing math problems, my mind is completely there. There are no problems or anything else in the world for me when I’m doing math."
Ariana graduated high school in December 2018 and in March 2018 she was admitted to Instituto SENCICO to study Topography. She feels very proud to be taking these first steps towards her future. Upon enrolling, Ariana visited Victor’s Vision with her mother to share her thanks and goodbyes to the Victor’s Vision family.
